Join us for a joyful day of wellness, connection and community spirit as Baby Check Bath celebrates 10 incredible years of supporting families across BANES with a very special event: The Happy Baby Festival 

Having helped over 1000 families in the postnatal period, Baby Check Bath has become a vital source of support for distressed newborn babies and recovering mothers. Our team of specialist osteopaths offer gentle, restorative care that nurtures bonding and eases the transition into early parenthood.

Now, we’re inviting the whole community – parents, babies, bumps and toddlers – to celebrate this milestone and a free, feel-good festival designed just for families.

What’s happening on the day? 

• Live demonstrations and expert talks on topics including reflux & colic, pelvic health, bonding and attachment, feeding weaning and more.
• Specialist workshops from trusted practitioners in osteopathy, homeopathy, reflexology, child psychology and infant wellbeing.
• Baby Sensory fun by Hartbeeps
• Crafts, refreshments and a live DJ 
• Second-hand baby & toddler clothes sale 
• Raffle prizes donated by Walcot Street Traders

Contributions have been generously donated by our wonderful local community. Entry is free with proceeds going to Baby Check Bath charity to support even more families in need.

Stillpoint warmly welcomes Ruth Huchrak-Thomas to the clinic. Ruth offers Reflexology and Holistic Massage Therapy at Stillpoint in Bath.

We are very happy to have Ruth joining our team and we will all be queuing up to book a massage with Ruth ourselves!

Ruth Huchrak-Thomas is a talented holistic therapist specialising in both reflexology and massage therapy. She’s been practicing reflexology and holistic massage since she was 22 years old, when she graduated with a Diploma from the International Institute of Health and Holistic Therapies (IIHHT). Ruth has a passion for helping people relax and feel their best, and she’s been doing it for over 20 years!

On Your Bike!

Many of our practitioners here at Stillpoint don’t need an excuse to go for a bike ride; plenty of them already cycle to work. It’s not just the Osteopaths & acupuncturists who arrive on two wheels; some of our patients cycle to their appointments as well.

Stillpoint Osteopaths often recommend cycling to patients, on a road bike or static bike, as a great form of exercise. Electric bikes help with the hills of Bath & allow for covering greater distances more easily whilst still getting you out for some exercise!

Cycling helps builds up strength in the core, lower back & leg muscles, all important muscles providing support for the spine & in the longer term helping to reduce strain on the knees & hips.

There are secure bike racks directly in front of the Stillpoint building; just bring your lock along. Covered bike racks are also available, around the corner behind the bee hives.

Cycle to Work Day aims to raise awareness of the benefits of cycling, from reduced stress levels to getting fitter; just watch out for the hills in Bath!

We believe as Osteopaths that prevention and early treatment before a problem gets too entrenched in the body could lead to a better outcome later in life.

Children coming through the challenge of the birth, the growth spurts and the usual multiple falls and tumbles  during development, need our support.

The Water babies way of improving motor skills and confidence through the physical activity in water could potentially complement the Osteopathic approach aiming to release physical tensions in the child’s body. We want to link our skills with other professionals and help children who may have imbalances, and therefore expand the network of support.

The Water babies are one of the most popular UK swimming programmes, led in Somerset and Bristol by Bryony Johnstone and her team of teachers. Babies can go to the very nurturing and warm environment of the pool to freely experience buoyancy and have a special skin-to-skin bonding time with mummy or daddy while cheerful nursery rhymes are sung.

As lessons go on, under the close supervision of the parent and teacher, the children learn to perform specific movements with a small group of other babies, and even gain confidence by swimming under water. All the steps are carefully guided and very progressive. The swimming techniques have been recognised to increase safety in water, and strengthen the babies’ lungs and diaphragm. They also develop their listening and understanding abilities by following commands and by miming with other children. The coordinated response greatly encourages the development of the brain and the nervous system pathways.

There is also a course for children with special needs. Often these children may struggle with coordination and altered muscle tone. The water helps the relaxation of the muscles while the specific movements are designed to encourage muscular synchronisation and development in a medium reducing the effects of gravity.

In order to understand the benefits of Osteopathy, the swimming teachers attended some of our evening lectures in Bristol and Bath, which we held to demonstrate how to detect imbalances in children. Swimming is such a good way to observe a child’s posture and movement tendency, enabling the teacher to suggest a referral to an Osteopath if they think anything is indicated.

We have been very pleased to get to know our two professions better and share the wealth of our specialised fields. Our hope is to develop a wider support network for the health and development of young children.
